Abstract: This paper aims to do a comparative study of the poetry of Jose Maria Sison, the Chairman of the Communist Party of the Philippines, and Mao Zedong, the founding father of the People’s Republic of China, and present a planetary relationship between the two, both in terms of their poetry and their political ideologies. The paper uses Spivak’s notion of teleopoiesis, the unheimlich, and planetarity as a foundation to reveal a planetary relationship between the two poets through an analysis of the tropes of the peasant soldier and the countryside present in both poet’s works. The paper utilizes the unheimlich as a field for productive difference, estrangement, or alienation that courts Spivak’s notion of planetarity. In terms of a comparative study of Mao and Joma, planetarity presents itself through the unfamiliar, or the un – Filipino that is presented through the Chinese ideals Sison’s poetry because of the influence of Mao Zedong thought.
