Press Statement
21 October 2004

GRP President has shut the door to GRP Peace Negotiations with the NDFP
By Prof. Jose Maria Sison
Chief Political Consultant
National Democratic Front of the Philippines

It is highly regrettable that GRP President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has practically shut the door to GRP peace negotiations with the NDFP and has so arrogantly boasted of defeating the revolutionary movement of the people with the sword.

This is the worst time for the reactionary regime to declare all-out war. The regime is bankrupt and is extremely unstable. It is buffeted by the socio-economic and political crisis of the domestic ruling system and the world capitalist system.

A broad united front is steadily developing to seek the removal of the current ruling clique from power. Unleashing state terrorism against the people can only strengthen the legal democratic mass movement and the armed revolutionary movement.
In this regard, Arroyo has learned nothing from the fall of Marcos and Estrada.

The recent statements of the Arroyo regime prove that the regime does not respect the national sovereignty and jurisdiction of the people, the safety and immunity guarantees for duly authorized persons in the peace negotiations and the Hernandez political offense doctrine.

The Arroyo regime knows no bounds for its puppetry. It supports the grand scale US terrorism of preemptive repression and preemptive wars of aggression and misrepresents as terrorist the national liberation movements, the countries assertive of national independence and the progressive leaders.

As the Arroyo regime continues to paralyze the GRP-NDFP peace negotiations, I can devote more time to social research, writing educational materials and composing poetry for musical rendition. I am certain that the broad masses of the people will do everything in their sovereign power to terminate the puppet, corrupt and repressive regime as soon as possible.###
