ON DUTERTE AND THE PEOPLE OF MARAWI CITY

DUTERTE, now called DUTITI by the people of Marawi City is practically fomenting social unrest among them. He is held accountable for the unnecessary destruction of lives and properties through indiscriminate bombing of the city and for his insulting disregard for the Sultan and leading families of the city who could have undertaken negotiations with those who rose up.

After the destruction of the city and the forced evacuation of more than 300,000 people, there is overwhelming uncertainty whether they would get sufficient assistance for relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction. Most people are now in the dark whether they can get back their previous home lots and the remains of their ruined houses and shops.

The people hate Duterte and his military as they are outraged by the Duterte plan to convert the destroyed area of 25 barangays into a so-called Ecozone. They hate this plan and even more so the priority given to the construction of a military complex worth 400 million pesos in construction and occupying prime land of more than 10 hectares.
