In 2001, the Cuban Five were convicted of espionage and sentenced to long term prison terms in the US. Today in Havana, the Cuban people celebrate the 5 year anniversary of their release from prison and repatriation. Gerardo Hernandez was the leader of the Cuban Five and is now acting as Vice Rector at Cuba’s Advanced Institute of International Relations.
