We, the International League of Peoples’ Struggle (ILPS), express our warmest greetings of solidarity to all the participants in the launching today of the Philippines-U.S. Solidarity Organization – Southern California (PUSO SoCal).
We are deeply pleased that you have formed this mass organization to garner wider international solidarity and support for the Filipino people’s struggle for national liberation and genuine democracy and for the upholding of human rights in the civil, political, social, economic and cultural fields. We welcome your plan to become a member-organization of ILPS.
We admire and support the principles and points of unity that are declared in your Constitution. We urge you to uphold, defend and advance all of these through campaigns and activities in the long course of the life of your organization.
We are cognizant of PUSO as a solidarity organization composed of Filipinos and non-Filipinos in the United States who are committed to support and defend people’s rights, justice, and peace in the Philippines and to strengthen ties of solidarity and resistance between the Filipino people and the people of the United States.
We hope that you as a solidarity organization will be able to build a progressive social movement that is connected with other global networks, community-based organizations, and concerned individuals engaged in the process of building a more peaceful, just, and democratic world.
We urge you to inform the United States community about the gross human rights violations in the Philippines. These are deeply rooted in the long history and persistent conditions of colonial and imperialist domination and the oligarchic rule of the big compradors, landlords and corrupt government officials in a semicolonial and semifeudal society.
They involve systematic state repression of the Filipino people’s collective struggles for their right to national self-determination and all their economic, social, political and cultural rights. We are confronted today by the escalation of oppression and exploitation of the people by the US-Duterte regime.
We are ever hopeful and confident that you will continuously campaign and assist the Filipino people in their search for justice, call the attention of the people of the world to
their plight and contribute to the realization of a just and lasting peace in the Philippines.
We wish you the utmost success in your launching of PUSO SoCal and in all your work in the years to come.
Mabuhay ang PUSO SoCal!
Mabuhay ang sambayanang Pilipino!
Mabuhay ang pandaigdigang solidaridad!
