As poet and essayist, Jose Maria Sison receives the Southeast Asia WRITE Award from then Crown Prince (now King of Thailand) in Bangkok in October 1986. The literary award is considered the most prestigious in Southeast Asia. The awardees are nominated by national writers’ organizations.
