On my personal behalf and on behalf of the International League of Peoples’ Struggle, I wish to convey most heartfelt condolences to the family of Comrade Ernesto Bustillos and to all comrades in the Union del Barrio over his passing away.
I am deeply saddened and I share your grief. At the same time, we can all be proud of and be comforted by the revolutionary work and achievements of Comrade Ernesto in the service of the Mexican people.
I had the distinct honor of meeting Comrade Ernesto. I was enlightened by his narration of how the United States had unleashed a war of aggression against Mexico, brutally murdered a great number of Mexican people and grabbed a huge part of Mexico at the middle of the 19th century.
I was inspired by his dedication to the revolutionary struggle for the national liberation of the Mexican people and for the reunification of Aztlan and Mexico. I learned that under his leadership Union Del Barrio had grown since 1981 from a local community organization to an advanced national organization with chapters throughout Aztlan.
I am aware that Union del Obrero has resolutely upheld the principle of national liberation of the Mexican people and has grown in strength through militant struggle for la Raza and the reunification of Aztlan and Mexico against the continuing injustice of occupation, oppression and exploitation by US imperialism.
I am confident that the revolutionary cause of Comrade Ernesto and Union del Barrio will further advance, especially because U.S. imperialism is now in a process of decline and is facing grave problems like all previous empires in the history of mankind.
Comrade Ernesto Bustillos leaves to the Mexican people a shining legacy of revolutionary deeds and ideas that will continue to inspire the current generation and further generations. ###
