FILIPINO PEASANTS SUPPORT PROF. JOSE MARIA SISON’S STRUGGLE FOR HIS RIGHTS AS A POLITICAL REFUGEE

KILUSANG MAGBUBUKID NG PILIPINAS
26 March 2010

PROF. JOSE MARIA SISON OR JMS IS A SPARK TO THE FILIPINO PEOPLE’S MOVEMENT. His works have guided the countless peasants in struggling for Genuine Land Reform. The fruits of victorious peasant struggle has been steered by JMS’ rigorous study of Filipino society, feudalism and agrarian struggle. The peasant movement benefited from his sacrifices.

Thus, we from the KILUSANG MAGBUBUKID NG PILIPINAS (KMP, PEASANT MOVEMENT OF THE PHILIPPINES), vow to support his struggle for his rights as a political refugee, particularly his right to residence in The Netherlands, his benefits and right to work and practice his profession. JMS is a revolutionary and not a terrorist, he is human and should not be treated as an animal. We will encourage our 15 regional chapters and 65 provincial chapters to support the JMS’ struggle. We will also coordinate with our international partners such as the peasant organizations under Asian Peasant Coalition (APC) to drum up the issue of JMS and gather more and broader support.

We call on the government of The Netherlands and its embassy in the Philippines to stop persecuting Prof. Jose Maria Sison. The Dutch government should provide what is due to a political refugee in good faith of protection and promotion human rights. It should not succumb to the pressure of US Imperialism which is the root of all poverty and hardship in the world. Prof. Sison is a revolutionary, activist, poet, peace-maker, human rights defender and advocate of social justice. He struggles because not for himself but to transform Philippine society into a developed one. He struggles for Genuine Land Reform because feudalism or landlord control and monopoly over vast lands is long overdue and should be abolished. He is the opposite of US Imperialism which exists to rake up massive profits, depriving majority of the people of the world of humane and decent well-being. He deserves the rights of a political refugee and the Dutch Government should immediately provide it for him.

PROF. JOSE MARIA SISON CAN REST ASSURE THAT THE FILIPINO PEASANT MOVEMENT SHALL SUPPORT HIS CAUSE. JMS struggle is a struggle of the Filipino peasant movement. We will never forget what he has done for the benefit of the Filipino peasants.

LONG LIVE PROF. JOSE MARIA SISON!
